Your Role as a Heavy Equipment Operator

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for operating and supporting the maintenance of heavy equipment and assisting with crushing operations to support aggregate production. This is a rotational trades role based at our Belleoram, NL site, working 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off on 12-hour shifts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate heavy equipment including loaders, haul trucks, and excavators to support safe and efficient aggregate production.
  • Support crushing operations by feeding and moving material as required.
  • Perform daily inspections and routine preventative maintenance on heavy equipment.
  • Assist in both planned and unplanned maintenance of crushing equipment.
  • Identify and troubleshoot minor equipment issues, escalating larger mechanical concerns as needed.
  • Work closely with supervisors and teammates to establish safe, efficient operating practices.
  • Participate in pre-shift meetings, toolbox talks, and hazard assessments to keep safety at the forefront.
  • Assist with general site duties including material handling, clean-up, and supporting other trades.
  • Ensure adherence to environmental and quality standards throughout operations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience operating heavy equipment, including loaders, haul trucks, and excavators.
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance practices.
  • Understanding of crushing operations and the ability to assist with crushing support.
  • Experience assisting with planned and unplanned maintenance on crushing equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
  • Commitment to safety as the top priority — making safety part of every task.
  • Ability to obtain a clean miner’s medical.
  • Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills to collaborate effectively.
  • Willingness to work a remote, rotational schedule (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off, 12-hour shifts) in Belleoram, NL.
  • Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform manual tasks as needed.

Note, a condition of employment will be that the successful candidates must become members of the operations union, LiUNA Local 1208. Individuals hired will be reminded of this when they get to the offer stage of employment.
