Pennecon Technical Services is currently seeking qualified applications for the following position:

Position: Crane Technician
Location: St. John’s, NL

Reporting directly to the Crane Services Manager, the Crane Technician plays a pivotal role in supporting and assisting the Service Coordinator across all facets of the department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for a diverse range of tasks aimed at ensuring the optimal performance and safety of overhead cranes and lifting equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and structural issues on various types of overhead cranes and lifting equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency.
  • Preventative and Reactive Maintenance: Execute assigned preventative maintenance tasks and reactive repairs to maintain equipment reliability and longevity.
  • Load Certification and Inspection: Conduct thorough load certification tests and inspections on overhead cranes and hoists, adhering to regulatory standards and industry best practices.
  • Documentation and Organization: Maintain meticulous records of equipment certifications and inspections, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal protocols.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare comprehensive repair reports, time sheets, and safety assessments, providing valuable insights and recommendations for equipment optimization and design modifications.
  • Client Interaction: Collaborate with management personnel during field walk-throughs, customer calls, and follow-ups, fostering strong client relationships and addressing their evolving needs effectively.
  • Estimations and Sales Support: Assist the Operations Manager in estimating project costs and providing technical support for potential sales opportunities, leveraging your expertise to deliver tailored solutions to clients.
  • Operational Reporting: Generate and deliver necessary operational and client reports, facilitating transparent communication and accountability across all levels of the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Possess a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in crane maintenance and repair, with a proven track record of excellence in mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving.
  • Trade Qualification: Hold a recognized trade qualification as a journeyperson millwright, demonstrating a high level of technical proficiency and competency.
  • Safety Focus: Exhibit a strong commitment to safety, with experience working at heights and comprehensive knowledge of rigging and slinging equipment and procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse client stakeholder groups and internal teams.
  • Analytical Thinking: Showcase the ability to analyze equipment safety and performance, offering valuable insights and recommendations for design modifications and maintenance requirements.
  • Flexibility: Display a willingness to travel across the province as required, adapting to changing project demands and client needs with professionalism and dedication.
